On September 19th, Walters Group hosted its first nationally celebrated SteelDay event and it was a blast! Almost 100 guests visited our Open House styled event and participated in one hour guided tours of our head office facilities here in Hamilton.
Walters was very excited to be hosting a SteelDay event this year. It was a great chance for guests to get to know the Canadian structural steel industry – and to get to know us! We had a wonderful time greeting customers, consultants, and owners of the Canadian Steel Industry, including college and university students as well as teachers. All of our registrants took this opportunity to experience the many processes involved in steel fabrication.
We also had Hamilton’s local news talk leader AM900 CHML live-on-location, discussing the current state of the steel industry and the needs of the industry in the future. Patricia Penney-Rouzes, CISC Ontario Regional Manager and Walter Koppelaar, President of Walters Group both sat down with Bill Kelly, the host of The Bill Kelly Show, to discuss how Walters is leveraging our knowledge of steel and putting Hamilton to work – and on the map.
Initiated by the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction, SteelDay is an annual, national event that showcases the versatility, performance and sustainability of steel and its various innovative applications.
