Walters Group and RJC Engineers have been jointly recognized for the 2025 Constructsteel Innovation of the Year Award for One Bloor West, Canada’s first supertall building.
Currently in construction, One Bloor West is an 85-storey high-rise tower, designed by Foster + Partners in collaboration with Core Architects. Nestled in downtown Toronto, One Bloor West now stands as the tallest residential building in Canada and the second-tallest man-made structure in the country, after the CN Tower. Rising higher than 300 metres into the sky, it has now reached a new record in Canadian architecture.
An award built on collaboration and creativity
The recognition specifically highlights the modular composite mega columns developed for One Bloor West, along with the integrated steel solutions that support the building’s structural performance. It underscores the strength of collaboration between RJC Engineers, Walters Group, and ArcelorMittal, and a shared commitment to solving complex challenges through thoughtful engineering and disciplined execution.
Rak Ramachandra, Walters Group’s Director, Projects was proud to accept the award alongside RJC Engineers, representing a true team effort grounded in trust, technical rigor, and follow-through. It was also an opportunity to celebrate alongside industry peers from POSCO International Corp, ArcelorMittal, Robert Bird Group, L&T Construction, and Tata Steel, whose projects reflect the depth of innovation shaping steel construction globally.
