Job Description

The Sales Lead, identifies and follows up with all potential business opportunities for Feature Walters by  building and maintaining relationships with current and potential clients. Working with the FEWA estimating team, the Sales Leads assists with the reviewing bids to ensure accurate and timely proposals.

Marketing and Business Development:

  • Reaches out to potential and existing customers to sell Walter’s services which result to be productive and profitable.
  • Overcomes business and technical challenges of prospective projects/customers. Addresses customer concerns in a professional, productive, and timely manner.
  • Enters and maintains project and customer data in the CRM. Attends trade shows as necessary as it is productive and contributes to increased sales.
  • Develop, manage, and nurture new business accounts (i.e. clients, geography locations and markets) and partnerships to accomplish profit and volume goals.

Bidding and Proposal Development

  • Assists estimating group to ensure all estimating functions ensuring that all estimating activities such as takeoff, shop costing (where assigned), outside price collection and total review of drawings is complete and in compliance with clients Tender Forms
  • Reviews proposal specifications and preliminary drawings to determine scope of work and determines the quantity of materials and labor required for the proposal project (takeoff process) and any other factors that may impact overall cost.
  • Analyzes drawings and specifications to assist in time, cost, materials, and labor estimates that match the specifications listed, and compiles data on each factor that may have an influence on costs
  • Researches materials and process as required to confirm to bid requirements and fabrication challenges
  • Participates in the project kick off meeting where specifications of the “featured” build, schedules, budgets and deadlines are discussed and challenges addressed; reviews how the job was bid and maps out objectives and constraints to guide the development of the design, sourcing and project coordination
  • Collaborates with the General Manager to mitigate risk, establish rates and finalize bid values.

Technical Planning/Support:

  • Manages ongoing client relations and builds trust by providing them with ongoing assistance and advice on potential project designs and problems/opportunities in fabrication.
  • Attends client meetings to clarify bid submissions, communicates with engineers and project designers/architects and other technical people answering their questions and concerns.

Desired Skills and Experience

Required

  • A college diploma or university degree in Engineering or Architecture
  • 6 years of experience in architectural design in a custom fabrication environment
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Project Management Body of Knowledge

Skills, knowledge and Competency Requirements

  • Knowledge of steel fabrication, architectural metals, glass and composites, design best practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of Tekla, Solidworks and/or other equivalent 3D modeling software
  • Ability to read structural and architectural drawings
  • Broad knowledge of materials and processing (materials engineering)
  • Promotes innovative and creative approaches in preparing solutions for clients
  • Organizational skills – can juggle conflicting priorities and has the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding work environment
  • Ability to build strong relationships – is friendly, engaging and has ability to build trust with clients

Working Conditions

  • Willingness to travel to New York and other locations to meet clients
