Walters was pleased to be awarded the Honda Plant 1 Paint Shop Expansion Project earlier this year. Honda Canada Inc. is upgrading and expanding its Honda Plant 1 Paint Shop facilities in order to build new models of the Civic and the CR-V. This expansion will be a welcomed addition to the company’s 45-acre Alliston, Ontario facility, which includes two vehicle production plants, an engine plant and a stamping forming plant.
Walters is responsible for the engineering, detailing, fabrication, painting, and erection of 1900 MT of structural steel. This involves 159 trusses ranging from 40’ to 60’. This project has a very aggressive detailing and fabrication schedule with steel erection having commenced the last week of March 2017 and scheduled to finish before summer’s end.
Honda has a tradition where they hold a celebration for the erection of the first major column of any of their projects. Recently, our field crew seamlessly erected the main column in front of an excited crew of Honda and Walters personnel. It’s been a pleasure to be a part of a great team on site.
