Laurier Brantford YMCA Gets Active

Walters is thrilled to be a part of the local Laurier Brantford YMCA community project in Brantford, Ontario. This YMCA project has been in the planning stages for several years and the City of Brantford is surely excited to see it finally becoming a reality.

This facility will include a large double gymnasium, indoor pools, a state of the art fitness centre and other amenities and will serve residents of Brantford, Brant County and Six Nations and the post-secondary institutions in the community, as well as visitors.

Walters role is to fabricate, paint and erect 585 tonnes of steel. Feature elements for Walters include seven 115 ft span AESS trusses, eight girders and two cantilever trusses, each 140 ft long x 22 ft wide, which will be exposed to view in the fitness centre. The Walters crew mobilized on site in February and are due to be finished this summer. Last week, we completed our large truss lifts at the YMCA project. A full street closure of Colborne Street in Brantford was required to ensure the safe delivery and installation of the cantilever trusses. The complex itself is anticipated to open in early 2018.

Walters is excited to be a part of this fantastic project that will help to improve the health and well-being of the Brant County community!
