Mohawk College & Walters Celebrate Innovation

October 31, 2017

Last week, Walters had the pleasure of hosting Mohawk College at our Hamilton, ON headquarters. During this visit, we celebrated Mohawk College’s Joyce Centre for Partnership & Innovation project by signing the building’s final steel beam.

Set to open in 2018, the Joyce Centre for Partnership & Innovation is the cornerstone of a record-setting $54.25 million renewal of technology labs and classrooms. At 96,000 square feet, this centre is also a showcase in environmental sustainability as the region’s first Net Zero energy institutional building. It has been designed to incorporate leading-edge energy harvesting, and conservation technologies and techniques.

Walters role has been to provide Design Assist to reduce costs and to provide fast track construction, fabrication, erection and the delivery of 931 tons for the main building, and 186 tons of solar panel support steel, for a total of 1117 tons.

Here’s a brief video highlighting the fun from our beam signing event!
