Walters Group is excited to announce a significant milestone in the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Phillip and Susan Ragon Building project. The recent topping-off ceremony celebrated the completion of the building’s structural steel framework, a key achievement in this transformative project. Walters Group has been key to the project, supplying and installing 10,500 tons of steel that forms the core of the development.
The Phillip and Susan Ragon Building, designed to elevate MGH’s capacity for high-quality healthcare, will feature 450 beds across 12 levels dedicated to operation, procedural, and interventional spaces. The facility will house the new Corrigan Minehan Heart Center and the Cancer Center, and will include flexible inpatient units, operating rooms, imaging, exam rooms, and infusion centers, all powered by 100% renewable electricity. The Phillip and Susan Ragon Building is expected to set new sustainability benchmarks, with projected emissions reduced by 90%, in line with Boston’s carbon reduction goals for 2050.
Before shipping the topping-off beam to Boston, Walters Group held beam signing events at our Hamilton, Princeton and Stoney Creek facilities, allowing team members to commemorate their contributions. Walters Group is proud to be a part of such a transformative project in Boston and it has been a pleasure working alongside our partners to bring this vision to life.
