Formerly known as Bay Park Centre, CIBC Square will feature two buildings and a one-acre elevated park above the Union Station rail corridor. The first of the project’s two buildings, 81 Bay Street, features 54 floors and 1.5 million square feet of state-of-the-art offices and collaborative spaces, with expansive views of Lake Ontario and Toronto’s skyline. This building is engineered to LEED Platinum specifications, and is Walters fourth LEED certified office tower.
Walters supplied engineering, detailing, fabrication and erection of the structural steel and decking on this project. The project scope included the main tower, podium, overbuild and bridge to the Scotiabank Arena.
Construction took place in a highly congested area in downtown Toronto, and necessitated careful coordination with our site team and other subcontractors on site. This was especially important as existing traffic flowing around the building site continued throughout the course of the erection.
