The Gahcho Kué Mine is located in a remote fly-in/fly-out location 280 km northeast of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. This is De Beers third diamond mine in Canada.

Our Role

The scope of this project included providing structural steel and the erection of the main process plant building which is comprised of four major industrial structures under one roof truss system. In addition to the steel structure erection, the project included rough setting of all major pieces of equipment over 5 tons.

Overcoming Challenges

With approximately 3,300 tons of structural steel required and major vessels weighing up to 70 tons each, there was a workforce of approximately 70 employees in addition to three cranes at the peak of construction working around the clock in one of Canada’s harshest climates.
