Honda Canada Inc. has upgraded and expanded its Honda Plant 1 Paint Shop facilities in order to build new models of the Civic and the CR-V. This new paint shop has helped the company cut greenhouse gas emissions from its paint processes by 44%. This expansion is a welcomed addition to the company’s 45-acre Alliston, Ontario facility, which includes two vehicle production plants, an engine plant and a stamping forming plant.
Walters was responsible for the engineering, detailing, fabrication, painting and erection of 1900 MT of structural steel. This involved 159 trusses ranging from 40’ to 60’.
Our biggest challenge on this project was time. Walters was awarded the project in late December 2016 and was on site by March 2017, which made for a very tight detailing and fabrication schedule. With the late award, getting material ordered to catch early rolling dates was a challenge.
