TeraWulf Inc., a leading digital energy organization is expanding their operations in the U.S. Their Lake Mariner Data Center is their flagship high-performance compute campus. A total of 5 Computing Buildings (CB) are on site, that are modular, efficient, state-of-the-art and sustainable.
Walters Group is responsible for the supply and fabrication of the structural steel connections, beams and assemblies for the construction of the CB4 and CB5 data centers in New York. We also applied zinc coatings on the HSS tubes to reduce the risk of leaks.
What started as a 4,000-ton structural steel project quickly grew to 5,750 tons per building, bringing the total tonnage on the project to 11,500 tons.
Speed was a primary factor in this build. With a fast-tracked schedule and only 30% of the drawings complete, our engineering team and detailing team were required to complete the drawings and detailed model in a matter of weeks. In just a couple of months, the project had moved from detailing to shop release to fabrication to 98% of the main building issued.
Walters Group worked closely with the Engineer of Record and the Construction Manager to find efficiencies in the design. By creating optimizations with the truss, beam, plate and welding connections, the install was extremely fast and effective. This repeatable build model reduced risk, improved trade coordination, saved on crane hook time, and supported efficient delivery.

Fast-track projects demand more than speed. They demand certainty.
