The Lexhold office building, an 80,000 square foot facility, was completed in 2007 as a design-build project by Dave Steel Company. Designed to attract office tenants to the University of Kentucky’s Cold Stream Research Campus, the five-story glass and precast-clad building features a striking front atrium with a spider glass façade. In addition, the project boasts high-end finishes, including 18″ x 18″ Italian marble lobby flooring and three premium elevators, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.
Moreover, this project marked a significant advancement in construction technology, as it was the first time Dave Steel utilized the structural engineer’s model as the foundation for the detailing model. By embracing this innovative approach, the team improved coordination, enhanced accuracy, and ultimately increased overall project efficiency.
Dave Steel Company played a pivotal role in the design, supply, and installation of 900 tons of structural steel for the Lexhold office building in Lexington, NC. This 80,000 square foot facility was a groundbreaking project, marking the first time we leveraged the structural engineer’s model as the foundation for our detailing model. By embracing true BIM methodology, we enhanced coordination, improved accuracy, and optimized efficiency throughout the construction process. Our scope also included stairs and handrails, ensuring a seamless integration of structural components in this state-of-the-art office building.
