Walters provided structural steel to the Babcock & Wilcox Construction company, who were carrying out a $75-million refurbishment of the Northern Indiana Public Service Company’s R.M. Schahfer Generating Station. The generating station supplies power to the people of Wheatfield, Indiana.
Walters completed all the detailing and fabrication of structural and non-structural steel. We also handled all logistics for delivery to Indiana and performed the installation on-site.
Despite logistical challenges, including coordinating with other trades on the installation of mechanical platforms, this project was fast-tracked, finishing two months ahead of schedule. The client had requested that the erection be completed within 9 months. We were able to top off the project and reduce the erection schedule from nine months to seven.
