A private equity firm is enhancing its office space in Manhattan, New York, and Feature Walters is proud to have collaborated with Tri-Star Construction, the recipient of the renovation project. Our work involved crafting a two-story staircase for the office space, spanning levels two to four.
This structural steel staircase boasts glass guardrails, leather-wrapped handrails, and precast terrazzo treads, all encased with three bronze traction strips on each thread. Complementing this staircase is a four-story wall, created by another on-site partner.
Featured Walters fabricated the custom-built box stringers, treads, landings, handrails, and posts for this stunning staircase in our production facilities. Each piece of this project underwent test fitting in the fabrication shop to ensure a smooth installation turnaround on a tight schedule. Subsequently, they were shipped out as individual sections of the stair structure.
Finally, structural installation was performed by Metropolitan Walters, an integrated division of Walters Group that provides erection services to the New York City Market. Our team also coordinated the acquisition of glazers, onsite finish painters, and precast installers for the final finishes on-site.
Thanks to our extensive vertically integrated services, the Feature Walters team successfully navigated the challenges encountered during this project. With a tight window for installation, our team ensured an efficient fabrication process to keep pace with the swift turnaround on site.
Our final coordination effort involved overcoming shipping obstacles on Park Avenue in New York City. Collaborating with Metropolitan Walters, we utilized an intermediate yard to ship our fabricated stair pieces. This strategic decision proved efficient for material transit when faced with a tight installation schedule. Additionally, our design team meticulously crafted all components to fit within the constraints of the small freight elevator within the building.
