Addition of a Flu Gas Desulfurization scrubber system to an existing single unit coal-fired power plant. System is designed to remove suspended solids, heavy metals, and organics from the scrubber waste stream so water can be safely discharged. The SO2 in the flue gas is converted to gypsum that is used in the manufacture of gypsum wall board.
Dave Steel supplied 4,000 tons of structural steel for the Flu Gas Desulfurization (FGD) scrubber system at the Reliant Energy Cheswick Power Station. Our scope included stairs, handrails, decking, and grating, all finished with SP6 surface prep and two coats of high-performance paint for durability. This system enhances environmental sustainability by reducing emissions and converting SO2 into gypsum for wallboard production, ensuring cleaner air and water discharge.
