Facts & Figures
  • Supplied 2,260 tons of structural steel.
  • Painted, SP6 + 2 coats of high performance paint.
Our Role

Dave Steel supplied 2,260 tons of structural steel for Shell’s modular slurry pump houses, essential for transporting mined oil sands to processing facilities in Northern Alberta. Our scope included steel components finished with SP6 and two coats of high-performance paint for durability in harsh conditions. The fabricated steel was shipped to Edmonton, where the modules were assembled with mechanical and electrical systems before being transported to site as fully operational units. Our combination supported the efficient and flexible relocation of pump houses as mining operations progressed.

Overcoming Challenges

Dave Steel Company’s challenge was to meet critical deadlines to fabricate and ship to Edmonton, where each module is completed with all mechanical and electrical systems, and then shipped to the site as a working unit.
