Tim Verhey

Tim started with Walters in 1998 as Chief Engineer but quickly became involved in production and moved through several roles. Today, as Executive Vice President, Construction Sciences, Tim leads Engineering and Operations, including Quality Assurance, and is responsible for the engineering, production, and ultimately, successful execution of all projects that Walters undertakes. He oversees a team of specialist engineers, BIM modellers, steel detailers, and construction experts who focus on developing innovative solutions to simplify the fabrication and construction of steel structures. Under his mentorship, the team has expanded significantly.

Tim emphasizes bringing highly complex, unusual structural steel projects to life. He brings a unique background and skillset that provides him with a solid understanding of how buildings are designed and intended to function. His combination of practical experience working on the shop floor, a Master of Engineering education, and prior work experience gives him a deep understanding of construction, steel fabrication, welding, and complex connection design. Prior to joining Walters Inc., Tim worked with a local Consulting Engineering firm, followed by six years as a Forensic Structural Engineer in the legal and insurance industries.

Known for his innovation in design and construction, creative thinking, and problem-solving, Tim has served as the Engineering lead on numerous award-winning projects and is a sought-after speaker by industry associations.

Tim is a thought leader who mentors, develops, and guides many of the innovative and talented team members within the Walters Group. He also focuses on culture development, building capability for enhanced market positioning, and senior-level relationships with clients and industry.

There is a fine balance of bringing together the principles of design and architecture, engineering and fabrication to create a final product that is functional and in some cases, aesthetically pleasing.
