We are pleased to share that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. (TMMC) has selected Walters for the engineering, detailing, fabrication, painting, and the erection of a 300’ x 100’ structural steel facility, for their West Plant press expansion. This involves 90 joists and several trusses ranging from 60’ to 100’, as well as double columns and multiple crane girders.
TMMC’s West Plant, located in Woodstock, Ontario, is the North American manufacturing facility for the ever-popular Toyota RAV4 crossover utility vehicle. Production of the RAV4 at the West Plant rose from 78,000 in 2009 to over 250,000 in 2016. This expansion will help TMMC continue to respond to the high demand for the RAV4.
Steel erection is to commence in October of this year and is scheduled to finish by the end of November 2017, making this project’s schedule a welcomed challenge with an extremely tight and fast-tracked timeframe.
