Walters Awarded Belleville Arena

Walters has been selected as the steel fabricator and erector for the Belleville Yardmen Arena project by Ball Construction, which we also collaborated with on the Meridian Centre in downtown St. Catharines. The city of Belleville, Ontario is renovating and expanding its 39-year-old arena, in order to provide a home for the American Hockey League’s (AHL) new Belleville Senators franchise.

Walters role will be to fabricate and erect 265 tonnes of structural steel for the North and West additions, which includes one 32 metre truss. The seating capacity will be expanded from 3,217 to 4,400, and will provide the home team with a 9,000-sq ft dressing room. The back-of-house area will also be expanded and upgraded. The renovated facility will meet both National Hockey League and AHL standards once completed.

With a move-in date of December 2017 for the Belleville Senators, the biggest challenge on this project is that the site schedule is very tight for detailing, material delivery and fabrication.

We are excited to be a part of this project and look forward to delivering happiness to our valued clients.
