Walters Group has started delivering the bridge steel for the Ottawa Hospital’s New Campus Development (NCD) parking garage, with deliveries beginning in early January 2025. This critical steel structure will span the Ottawa Light Rail Transit (OLRT) tracks, marking a significant milestone in the project’s progress. Walters Group is supplying 745 tons of bridge steel for these spans. The first level will be coated with intumescent fireproofing, the second to fourth levels are prime painted, and the fifth level will remain unpainted.
The Ottawa Hospital’s New Campus Development is on track to deliver a state-of-the-art hospital, supported by a parking structure designed to accommodate about 2,900 vehicles. The parking garage will connect to the main hospital and transit, enhancing the overall patient and visitor experience.
Earlier, in August, Walters Group successfully delivered the east-side roof steel for the garage . With approximately 2,500 tons of structural steel required for the project, Walters Group is proud to supply and install key portions of the parking garage, including sections crossing the OLRT tracks.
Awarded the contract by the PCL-EllisDon Joint Venture, Walters Group is also involved in the expansion of the Ottawa Light Rail Transit.
