Walters Group is proud to announce that we have been recognized with the 2023 IMPACT Project of the Year Award in the Industrial/Rigging/Machinery Moving category. The award ceremony, held on November 12, 2024 in Washington, D.C., celebrates excellence in the ironworking industry across the United States and Canada.
Presented by the Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT), these awards acknowledge exceptional achievements in safety, innovation, and collaboration. IMPACT is a joint labor-management trust representing Ironworkers and their contractor partners, dedicated to advancing the ironworking industry.
This recognition honours our work on the Alamos Gold Headframe project at the Island Gold Mine in Dubreuilville, Ontario, a key component of Alamos Gold’s Phase 3+ expansion. For this project, we supplied and installed 1,200 tons of structural steel and handled the hoisting and placement of dump chutes, sheave deck support steel, and sheaves. Special thanks to Site Superintendents Kyle London, Casey Allen and the rest of the team for their great safe work done on site.

Located 992 km from Toronto, the project posed logistical challenges that required meticulous pre-planning and scheduling. The headframe’s modular preassembly enabled cladding to be completed on the ground before hoisting, streamlining the overall process. Our team completed 18,500 hours on-site with zero lost-time incidents, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to safety and quality.
