Facts & Figures
  • 424 tons of structural steel
  • 40% of the steel is the tree columns and tree nodes (180 tons)
  • Trees are roughly 45′ long, and 135 tons of large built-up girders
  • 4″ thick steel plate makes up the box columns
  • The tree columns were erected with no temporary shoring. This meant the anchor rods and bolted connections needed to be fully secured to keep them from tumbling during installation.
Our Role

Walters was responsible for complex design support and fabrication of tree nodes and tree columns, engineering connections, detailing, fabrication and erection of steel grating and steel deck.

Our scope included supplying an interesting 3-legged inverted tripod system that holds up one end of the hotel.  Approximately 230 Tons of steel required us to hold extremely tight fabrication tolerances. The installation was completed in September 2022.
