Telus Sky Progresses into New Year

Progress on our Telus Sky project has been going well into the new year. The Atrium wall and stairs are now complete and the site team wrapped up the work on the final detail of the stairs, along with the cantilevers on Level 29 – all of which was completed in early December 2017. During Spring 2018, our site team will commence work on the cantilevers from Levels 3 to 6, along with the +15 bridge.

Walters role is to provide fabrication and erection of the structural steel in the Atrium, +15 bridge, Cantilevers from Levels 3 to 6, Level 29 and the roof. We also provided parkade columns for the seven parking levels within this building.

Once complete, the 221-metre TELUS Sky tower will bring 25 floors of office space and 28 floors of residential space to downtown Calgary. The new mixed-use development will dramatically increase the urban density of the area, with a flood of new office workers, residents and retail stores. The tower is being built to LEED Platinum standards, and is expected to use 80% less energy than some similar sized towers once completed.

TELUS Sky is set to open at the end of 2019 and upon completion will be the third tallest building in Calgary, behind Brookfield Place Calgary and The Bow – both of which Walters has helped to erect.
