Boston Seaport District Block L5 Tower Topping Off Celebration

On June 29th, a topping-off ceremony was held by WS Development and Turner Construction to celebrate the success of Boston Seaport District Block L5 Tower and recognize the hard work of the Ironworkers involved. This mixed-use building, spanning 707,000 sq. ft., is home to the city’s largest Net Zero Carbon facility and includes a 17-storey tower housing office space and two eagerly anticipated performing arts centres.

Representatives from Ironworkers Local 7, Henning Larsen, Gensler, McNamara Salvia, Buro Happold, Boss Steel Inc., and Walters Group all signed the tallest beam. The beam is hoisted with a fir tree on top to symbolize good luck for the rest of the building’s construction and future occupants.

Walters Group supplied and installed 7,400 tonnes of structural steel, while Recal, our partner, aided in the fabrication of the plate girders. Boss Steel Inc completed the installation.

We extend our congratulations to our partners for their contributions to the project’s success while ensuring that safety remained a top priority.
