Albert Marskamp of Walters Group received the Young Engineer Award – 2022 Ontario Region at the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) gala on November 10, 2022, at Hotel X, Exhibition Place in Toronto. This prestigious award is given to CISC members who demonstrate outstanding accomplishments as young professional engineers. This award honours Albert’s involvement in the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

As Director of Engineering, Albert is instrumental in most of the complex projects at Walters. While his particular emphasis is on Design Assist, Construction Engineering, Constructability Analysis, and Connection Design, Albert is often involved in other aspects of the business at the operational level. He is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Engineering Department to ensure project excellence.
“Walters has given me the opportunity to work on a lot of challenging projects, with the support and mentorship of many very smart people along the way. It’s an honour to win this award among such distinguished peers, including my colleagues at Walters, from whom I have learned so much,” shared Albert.
Albert received his Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) at McMaster University in 2005. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the provinces of Ontario (2009), Alberta (2012), Saskatchewan (2012), Manitoba (2012), Nova Scotia (2013) and Northwest Territories (2014).
Albert’s wide range of project experience includes the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Manhattan West Northeast and Southeast Towers (New York, New York), West Block Rehabilitation (Ottawa, Ontario), and the Mosaic Stadium (Regina, Saskatchewan), among others. He embraces the Walters culture in supporting and mentoring his team and sharing his expertise and knowledge in the steel construction industry.
