Walt has worked across many areas of the business. In his current role, Walt takes a focused approach to expanding markets geographically and diversifying into targeted sectors to help Walters meet our aspirations for growth. Walt believes strongly in the value of building long-term relationships. He has built strong ties with developers, builders, and constructors throughout the industry.
Walt started with Walters in the summer of 1978 on the shop floor, moving into fitting and on-site work after completing his Civil Engineering Technology Diploma. Walt began full-time employment as a structural steel detailer in 1985 and then went on to work in project management.
Walt’s entrepreneurial nature took him outside of the company for a few years where he set up a company in the transportation and speciality finishes industry. He re-joined Walters in 1996 and focused on project management. He helped centralize and expand the supply chain by expanding relationships with mills and suppliers globally to enable Walters to source strategically. As a result, Walters can now bring clients a broad line of supplies and speciality materials and metals.
Walt brings an easy going attitude to everything he does and is known to be the voice of reason in challenging situations. He is also a skilled negotiator who keeps a sharp focus when working towards achieving an outcome.
